This private half day Summer Palace trip starts at either 8:00 am or 13:00 pm, please indicate your preferred starting time when making the booking. A local guide will pick you up from your Beijing downtown hotel at the confirmed time, and escort you to the sightseeing in the royal park.

Being the largest and most well-preserved royal park in China, the Summer Palace greatly influences Chinese horticulture and landscape. It is recognized as 'The Museum of Royal Gardens' and ranked amongst the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1998.

Composed mainly of Longevity Hill (Wanshou Shan) and Kunming Lake, the Summer Palace radiates fully the natural beauty and the grandeur of royal gardens. Follow your guide to visit the lakeside pavilion of Marble Boat, the richly painted Long Corridor, take a boat ride on the Kunming Lake, listen to your guide’s commentary of the royal history and enjoy the stunning scenery.

After around 3 hours sightseeing of the Summer Palace, return to your hotel and bid farewell to your guide to conclude the half day trip.

The summer palace is slightly different from other palaces in Beijing as it seems that a lot of it is open to the public. We even saw the morning Tai Chi sessions by the natives taking place, it was amazing to see! I would definitely recommend comfortable footwear for your visit as there is a lot of ground to cover, it quickly filled with other visitors and we sort of got stuck with another group and did a lot more walking than I would have liked. We took a boat ride and the views were great, the breeze also was lovely as it got hot fairly quickly. Lots of gift shops and places for snacks. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want to see something different and have a few hours to spare.

The tour was absolutely amazing. Our guide was the best person we could have ever asked for. He was very good at keeping us on schedule and was also very knowledgeable and funny. We were able to see many places while also having time to take everything in.

This is a great tour to take and you must have a guided tour as there is too much to see and take in. It was well organised and very informative. Our guide was perfect and early in the morning was a bonus as the crowds were already starting to gather when we arrived.!
