Overview

You can decide pick-up from a hotel in Beijing city centre (inside 3rd ring road) or Beijing Capital International Airport. Pick-up will be at 8:00 am at your hotel lobby or Airport Arrivals hall with a board with your name.

A Chinese-speaking driver will drive to Mutianyu Great Wall which is located in Huairou County, 75 km north-east from the center of Beijing. If you wish, there is an option to hire an English-speaking tour guide to go with you to the Wall.

The Mutianyu Great Wall was constructed under the famous General Xu Da and is one of the best-preserved parts of the wall; serving as the main northern defense for the capital and imperial tombs during the times of ancient China.

Expected arrival to Mutianyu is around 9:30 am. The round trip hike is 6 km and takes an estimated time of 2 hours. You can hike up the side of mountain to the wall or take a cable car (at your own expense). Then you can walk over the wall passing several watch towers for different views. On the way down, you can either walk, or take the cable car or toboggan (at your own expense).

The Wall is beautifully surrounded by dense woods and rich pastures that change colors with the seasons. The hike should be finished around 11:30 am and then you will be driven back to your hotel in Beijing city centre or Beijing Capital International Airport at around 2:00 pm.
