Cairo & Alexandria Tours from Hurghada by Air
From Hurghada take a flight to Cairo and let our guide accompany you to explore the wonderful Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, and the famous Egyptian Museum. From Cairo, travel to Alexandria and take in Pompay’s Pillar the only known free-standing column and view the ruins of a Roman Temple. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa before proceeding onto Qaitbay Citadel.
You will journey first to Giza, a desert plateau on the fringes of the city that’s home to the Sphinx and the three Giza Pyramids: Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos. View the Sphinx, which is a mysterious human-headed lion statue that guards the pyramids, as your guide explains why it was built, and the secrets behind its strange form.
Then, walk up to the pyramids to be amazed at these three, huge pharaonic tombs. Soak up the knowledge of how they were built in around 2550 BC to provide the deceased with a safe passage to the afterlife.
Gaze in awe at the 481-foot (147-meter) tall Cheops and view Chephren and Mykerinos. Your tour will also include a trip to Cairo's spectacular Egyptian Museum, which hosts more than 250,000 ancient artefacts. The museum tells the story of ancient Egypt with its incredible collections of art, statues and funerary artefacts. Explore with your Guide and be amazed at the treasures of Tutankhamun’s tomb, including his gold death mask and chariot.
In Alexandria, you will visit Pompay's Pillar. It was constructed in honour of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Then take a drive to visit the Catacombs which is the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut into the rock.
Now take a break for lunch before taking a journey on to see the Qaitbay Citadel which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs, and the lighthouse of Alexandria which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. We then journey onto Bibliotheca Alexandria, which is a major cultural and Library centre.
