Etna & Alcantara from Catania

The excursion will continue with a visit to a lava flow cave with helmets and torches. Afterward, you will stop at an organic products company in Zafferana, where you can taste honey, wines, oils, and other typical products. The tour will continue with a visit to the Alcantara. The excursion to the Alcantara river will make you discover the most varied aspects of this very particular water course. Walking along small paths that run along the so-called "delizi" (cultivated fields), you will reach the course of the river, from here you will be able to see the Gurne, natural pools created by the flow of water, ponds, and tumultuous waterfalls set in beautiful riparian vegetation. A walk through nature, history, and traditions, where you can observe the ruins of the Francavilla Castle. The tour will end with a visit to the Gorges, canyons formed over the millennia by the flow of the river's waters on the Etna lava basalts. Here it will be possible to admire the columnar basalts, lava formations resulting from the erosion process, and the slow cooling, which take on extraordinary shapes of various thicknesses and orientations.
