What you will get with this tour
This tour will bring you to discover wild nature while riding safely in a sleigh or a horse-drawn carriage. The decision is up to the driver who takes a sled or horse-drawn carriage depending on the season and the snow conditions. The itinerary and duration do not change. The path we have chosen to introduce you to the natural show goes directly into the woods. Participants will be enchanted, observing animals and plants. The Gran Paradiso is full of mammals, like the alpine Marmot, and rapacious. The best time to visit it is the midseason when it is easier to see herds of ibex and chamois browsing in the pastures above. The tour is followed by lunch with a food tasting menu including top food from the Aosta Valley. We'll be hosted inside a farm to taste their fresh products, having a traditional lunch that includes 3 courses, dessert, and a glass of wine, which will be served.
Gran Paradiso: Italian Alps’ wide paradise
If you want to see one of the best national parks in Italy, Gran Paradiso is what you are looking for. This is the first National Park ever created in Italy, as its birth took place almost 100 years ago, in 1922. The Gran Paradiso national park is located between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont regions. It took its name from the Gran Paradiso mountain, whose altitude reaches 4,061 meters, being the 7th highest mountain in the Graian Alps, the group of Alps that comprehends also the Mont Blanc.
In 1922, the main reason why the park was conceived was about the alpine ibex protection, whose survival was threatened by poachers. But today the park is also protecting many other important species, as long as the two main types of woods - the coniferous and the deciduous one. These plants are really important in order to maintain the equilibrium of the area. As their beech leaves take a long time to decompose, stored at their roots they form a thick layer of humus. This layer, covering the woodland floor, prevents other plants and trees to develop.
Apart from trees and flowers, during winter and spring, this park hosts more than 100 bird species, including the Eurasian eagle-owl and golden eagles, black woodpeckers, and nutcrackers. Butterflies including Apollo's peak whites and southern white Admirals are also included.
