14 Day - Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Annapurna sanctuary trek is another well-known name of this Annapurna Base Camp trek which is surrounded by a ring of high mountains above 7000m.
The gorge, made by the Modi Khola river is between two famous mountains of the Annapurna Range of Nepal Himalaya, called Machhapuchchhre (Fishtail) and Hiuchuli; and is the only way to enter this paradise.
The matchless combination of height and depth, nature and culture as well as flora and fauna proves its name ideal to call a sanctuary.
The south-facing slope of the sanctuary is covered with dense tropical jungles of rhododendron and bamboo. In the north are dry rain shaded areas with colder climates similar to the Tibetan plateau.
The sanctuary only gets 7 hours of sun even during summer and is also known as the sacred land of the Gurung people - who were the only people to inhabit this area in the past.
The itinerary of this trek includes a beautiful walk through a rhododendron forest which leads you to Poonhill, which is a famous viewpoint in Nepal. This view from Poonhill is outstanding, and from where you can view the whole Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna and (Machhapuchhre) Fishtail as well as seeing beautiful sunrise views.
Similarly, the view of Gadharvachuli, Annapurna III, and Fishtail Mountain from the Machapuchare Base Camp is awe-inspiring.
There is nothing to compare, however, to the 360-degree view from Annapurna Base Camp, and where you will be surrounded by the mountains and feel like you are in an ice bowl.
