Overview

We will explore the area behind Faro airport, looking for birds in the saltpans and fresh water lagoons.

From one of the hides, we should have great views of Purple Swamphen and Little Bittern.

It is also a great oportunity to take pictures of all these birds.

We usually see several species of Terrapins sunbathing by several species of ducks resting on the islands of this lagoon.

Know Before You Go
  • Bring comfortable shoes and clothes but be aware that showers are still possible in spring and it can be chilly early in the morning. Sun protector is needed in summer. Don't forget your camera and binoculars.
