Overview
Someone nicknamed Aveiro as “the Portuguese Venice”! We prefer to call it the city of Art Nouveau. Aveiro is a city of singular beauty. It is located by the sea and the river, with its canals and the traditional boats called “moliceiros”, fulfill the city with a unique and colorful beauty. The culture and essence of the sea is in every corner; Aveiro has always been linked to the sea trade, fishing and salt production. Aveiro is charm! The Paiva Walkways is an 8 km boardwalk through ruggedly beautiful scenery in Arouca Geopark. Zig-zagging down rocky hillsides, hugging cliff faces and winding along the left bank of the Paiva river, the Passadiços do Paiva were the winner of the World Travel Awards 2016 for the Most Innovative Project in Europe and Europe’s Leading Tourism Development Project 2017. It will be a path through biology, geology and archeology. Arouca Geopark is recognized by UNESCO as a Geological Heritage of Humanity.

What To Expect
09:00 Full Day Tour to Aveiro and Paiva Walkways

This tour starts at 09:00am and we set off towards Aveiro;

Once in Aveiro, we`ll appreciate the beautiful train station which will help us to understand the city`s history;

Afterwards, it`s time for a walk through the old quarter of the city, see the main emblematic buildings and taste one of the delicacies of the city: sweet eggs;

Next is a Boat trip through the canals on a traditional “moliceiro” boat including historical explanation about its importance for the history of the city;

Lunch in a traditional restaurant;

The trip continues onto Costa Nova: the magnificent fishing village with its wooden houses in bright striped colours;

Finally, time for a walk. The Paiva Walkways are waiting for us. Get ready for 8 km of nature and splendour;

Return to your hotel in Porto.
