The drive from Moshi to the Kilimanjaro National park gate,Takes about 50 minute .The journey passes through the village of Marangu which is located on the lower slope of the mountain.once you reach the park gate,All hiker are requested to sign in t the park office and make their final preparation for the climb,Porters will be seen arranging and loading their parks, containing the food water cooking gas as well as most of your equipment .Make sure you have all your day park items containing at least water your lunch pack and extra clothing with you as the porters ascend a lot quicker than the hikers. Our guide will be available to assist with any additional information or you needs you might have. You now leave the park gate and ascend on a cleared ridge trails where most of Kilimanjaro animal are found an alternative and the more scenic parallel forest trails branches off to the left few minutes after the gate .This trails follows the edge of stream through the undergrowth and offers you the option to rejoin the main trails either after 1.5 hours hiking or 1 hour before Mandara Hut.
From Mandara hut the trails passes through a short stretch of the forest ,then skirt the base of Maundi crater and then emerge into transition from rainy forest to moorland ,it is well wort a short detour to scramble up to the rim of Maundi crater for your first really impressive view of the Kibo crater. On the clear day,Kibo will glimmer in distance showing off her majestic glacier in the morning sun.Once you are in the open moorland you will get a chance to see some of Kilimanjaro's most spectacular plants the endemic giants lobelia which grows up to 3 m in height and the giants groundsel (senecia Kilimanjari),which can reach height of 5 m! After about 6 hours from here you reach the Horombo hut.Where you will have hot washing water ,rest,an evening meals and overnight.
Horombo hut is a village of Hut perched on a small plateau ,with buildings similar to Mandara ,but with a total capacity of 120 climbers! Horombo is normally bustling with hikers guides and porters, with an atmosphere of adventure and excitement. You meet both ascending and descending hikers here. This extra day and night at Horombo is for additional acclimatization .A hike toward the Mawenzi hut.Passing the Zebra rock on the way about 3 hours up and 1,5 hours down,is strongly recommended. This hike will further assist with the process of acclimatization .Remember to drink enough water and move slowly! All meals for a day are provided at the hut.Retire to bed early and get a last good night's rest.
After breakfast you now continue your ascent into the alpine desert habitat. From Horombo there are two trails to the saddle which refer to the are located between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo,There is an upper route (right hand fork) and lower route ( left hand fork) to choose from. The upper route (right hand fork ) will be very familiar as you will have climbed most of it the previous day towards Mawenzi hut.it is very stony eroded .The recommended lower route (left hand fork) is much easier and nearly an hour shorter ,and it also passes the last watering point at 4130 m. Situated in the Barren Alpine desert is Horombo hut,a stone build block house which has bunk beds for 60 climbers ,but no streams with water nearby. It is however possible to buy mineral water from the camp office .There are platform toilets behind the hut.The summit id now a further 1195 m up and you will make your final ascent the same night.Prepare your equipment ,ski-stick and the thermal clothing for your summit bid. This should include the replacement of your head lamp and camera batteries and make sure you have a spare set available as well .To prevent a freezing it will be wise to carry your water in the thermal flask.Go to bed around about 19 hour and try to get as much rest and sleep as possible .Rest well for the next day you will be making a summit attempt.
You will rise around 23:30 hours and after some tea and biscuits you shuffle off into the night. And this is where the going really gets tough .the first section of the trails consists of rocky path to the Hans Meyer cave 5150 m , also a good resting spot. The path then zigzag up to Gilman's point 5681m. Which is located on the crater rim .This section is very steep with a lot of stone scree, requiring a great physical and mental effort. This is probably the most demanding section of the entire route.Do the Kili shuffle and move slowly. From Gilman's point you normally encounter snow all the way up to Uhuru peak 5895 m the highest point in Africa.Total exhilaration and satisfactions -made it.Whether condition on the summit will determine how long you will be able to to spend taking photograph ,before the 3 hours descent back to Kibo hut. After a short rest you gather all your gear you left behind for the ascent and head down to Horombo hut for your overnight .The return to Horombo hut will seem surprisingly fast compared to than ascent. The total time spent walking on this day is around 14 hours so be prepared for a very tough day .Later in the evening you enjoy your last dinner with the soft drinks and beer for sale at the camp office on the mountain and a well earned sleep filled with memories and stirring emotions
Celebrating the successful summit of Mt Kilimajaro .After breaakfast you continue your descent 6 hours passing Mandara hut,Down to The Marangu gate.It is strongly recommended not to pay your porters any tips until you an d your gear have reached the gate safely .At marangu gate you sign your name and details in a register .This is also where successful climber receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reaches Gilman's point 5685 are issued with a green certificate and those who reached Uhuru peak received Gold certificates .You now drive back to Arusha for a long overdue hot shower and swimming ,Dinner and celebration at Outpost Lodge.
Another start ,but trust us its worth it.The Serengeti is a home of stag erring 1.6 million of animals have been recorded moving through the park .We will do game drive until 1 pm,when we break for lunch. After eating, there's time for a little rest (perhaps a quick nap) then we're back out on the plain looking for more big game .We follow the trails of the migrating wildebeest through the afternoon ,Then venture back to the campsite or Hotel for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast we head back to ngorongoro Conservation area, vast UNESCO wold heritage site situated in a 260km-wide volcano crater. Archaeology buffs and anyone interested in history have the option to stop at Olduvai Gorge ,where some of the earliest known human remain have been found .The site was occupied by our genetic ancestors some two million yrs ago ,and continues to offer clues about the origin of Homo sapiens. We can also pass by the Masai bomas for a taste of a real African culture and traditional living. After e keep exploring the Ngorongoro crater ,venturing right up to the rim for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast we take a packed lunch and head back to the crater. We detour through a traditional Masai village, where you can get acquainted with locals ,watch some traditional dancing and see what life is real like on the African plains.from there we descend to the crater floor in search of more big game. The Ngorongoro crater is rich in Tanzania wildlife, and November to December is the best time to see it.The short rainy season i over and animals come out in a big number to enjoy the fresh water and green grass. We eat our packed lunches on the crater floor at one of the several picnic sites near lerai forest or hippo pool.If we are lucky we will spot the rare black rhinoceros .in the late afternoon we venture back out of the crater and head onward to Tarangire National Park, where we spent the night
We save the best for last. After breakfast ,we embark on our final game drive through the Tarangire national Park.African elephant ,the world biggest mammals are very common in this are .The Park is also dotted with the iconic baobab shrub like trees that can grow up to 30m tall. After a full day exploring Tarangire ,later in the afternoon ,we head to Arusha for a flight to Zanzibar.
free leisure day at the beach and you can walk around on your own at a slow pace ,you enjoy the walk at Nungwi are and Kendwa rocks area)it is worth it. In Zanzibar there is a lot of activities that you can do ,example In the stone spice and prison island tour the full day tour will take you to the most scenic part of the old town. This culturally rich town got its name from the use of coral stone as the main construction ingredients.Being the oldest town in East Africa, the historical root and influence can be felt at every turn of the tour starting from the house of wonder which is one of the prominent landmark of stone town. You can proceed on to the palace museum which was sultans residence .The Arab fort ,The Dr Livingstone House Fred Mercury's home and the pub and Hamamni Persian bath are just few of the many attraction in this relic of a town. You will have a free time in the afternoon for you to explore further on your own or to relax,In the evening depart from the Hotel for a sunset cruise along stone town water front.Stop at the forodhani gardens for a glance at the evening life.
You will be picked up from your hotel and you will head to the Airport to catch your flight back home.
