We were so lucky to have stayed at this amazing homestay on our visit through the Mekong Delta. My friend and I had talked about doing this, staying with a local family on our tour through the delta, instead of choosing a typical hotel, we wanted something different! The owners picked us up, and our backpacks in Can Tho, and took us on an awesome ride beside the river along paths through the local villages on our way to their home! Their home was right on the river and had the best riverside view. They had 9 bungalows which were all are very spacious, great beds, and nets, and even their own private bathrooms! The deck had great chairs to sit and watch the sunset and lay in hammocks and just relax. The owner was nice enough to take us on a private tour of the river in his own boat! Just as the sunset...it was very romantic. The homestay is run by the nicest man and his family, his English is wonderful, he is a teacher at the local school. We had the best home cooked dinner at a table on the deck, the food was some of the best we had on all of our journeys, fresh fish, and these sauteed mushrooms that were incredible! We also had a great breakfast in the morning, the owner even rode his bike in the morning to get us fresh bread! The only thing we had to pay for was our drinks and boat ride.
